As the July 1, 2026 implementation date of the Interchange Fee Prohibition Act (IFPA) approaches, the Illinois Bankers Association joined financial institutions and small business advocates to raise urgent concerns about the law’s impact on Illinois consumers, businesses, and communities.

At a press conference on Tuesday, April 15, the IBA stood alongside the Illinois Credit Union League and members of the Illinois State Black Chamber of Commerce to call for repeal of this flawed law before it disrupts everyday transactions across the state.
